I finally did it! I received my Master’s degree. Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Management. The day has finally come when I can say I have my MBA. Due to COVID, I could work from home; having the opportunity to work from home has given me more time to do things since I don’t need to commute to Honolulu (downtown).
At the start of 2021, I started my MBA program. I’m so happy I got tuition reimbursement from my current job and have so much support from my manager, coworkers, family, and friends. It took me about a year and a half to finish. I made sure to prioritize between work and school and have some breaks for my mental health. I got nervous taking each proctored test because the questions weren’t aligned with the study material, but I had to do it. So proud of myself for finishing strong. My final paper was graded when I got the final text message and I started crying because everything was over and I wouldn’t have to study and write anymore. One day, I may get a Ph.D., but for now I’m happy with myself and going to focus on certifications.
An old co-worker once told me, “baby steps, that’s all you need to do,” and you’ll end up where you need to be.
Thanks to my sister for always reading my papers and revising them. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. I’m so glad we both got our Master’s Degree. I’m an MBA in Healthcare Management and she’s a Masters in Public Health Epidemiology.
